Background:
When I was using Windows 10 Professional (64-bit); I occasionally “lost” access to my WIA driver after installing a Windows update.
Re-installing the WIA driver did not solve the problem.
I eventually discovered that the solution lies in stopping and re-starting the Windows WIA Service (ensuring it is set to “Automatic) and then rebooting the system.
The issue reappears!!
I have now upgraded to Windows 11 Professional and have experienced no issues at all. However, after installing update KB4023057, the issue reappeared with an error message when attempting to access my Canon Scanner (see image above).
The issue can, once again, be resolved as indicated above.
