..With the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5510 (KB5054148) to the Dev Channel Microsoft is giving early adopters the chance to jump on 26200 series builds. These are the builds that will eventually evolve into Windows 11 25H2, due for release at an as-yet unknown date in the second half of this year…

this particular Win11 user installed build 26200.5510 and reports it as being 24H2 instead of 25H2

The Betanews article is speculating based on Microsoft’s past history of bumping build numbers at the beginning of a release cycle. Builds based on 26200.xxxx will most likely become 25H2. There is no telling when Microsoft will let us mere mortals know that for sure nor when they will change the designation from 24H2 to 25H2. For some short period of time, there will not be much new that is seen by the Insiders until the “plumbing” changes are implemented.

Windows 11 version 25H2 is coming later this year, possible build number discovered

..@XenoPanther on X went through the code bits of build 27842, namely the AppraiserRes.dll file (one of the files that checks whether your PC is compatible with Windows 11 and various versions), and discovered mentions of GE25H2 with build number 26200…

Version 25H2 could land in the second half of 2025 as an enablement package, and a small bump in the build number (26200 vs 26100 in version 24H2) further backs this suggestion…

Microsoft suggests fresh Windows 11 25H2 code breaks almost entire OS

While Microsoft has not confirmed it, recent Canary channel builds have revealed that the company could be starting to test Windows 11 version 25H2 soon if it is not doing it already. While we were expecting such a build last week, Microsoft confirmed via its official Windows Insider Program X handle that it was not happening.

Later Brandon LeBlanc, who is a Senior Program Manager on the Windows Insider Program Team at Microsoft, provided some additional context as to why the sudden delay happened. A bit apologetically, he revealed that the issue was due to a new bug that is “really bad”.

“We tried really hard with Canary, but this new bug is really bad. I know this is disappointing. I am currently re-imaging a PC now to validate the fix for Canary for next week’s flight though.

Hello #WindowsInsiders, no Dev or Beta flights today but we’re hoping early next week. And sadly, Canary is blocked again due to another bug that impacts a lot of functionality that makes using your PC to do even basic things difficult. We have the fix now for next week…”
