Windows 11 File Explorer refuses to show mp3 thumbnails

This problem started a couple of weeks ago. Windows 11 File Explorer shows thumbnails for documents, pictures and videos, but will not show them for mp3 files, only icons.

This is extremely frustrating. I have tried checking and unchecking “Always show icons, never thumbnails.” I have tried any solution I have found through Google searching … but nothing seems to fix the problem.

I am thinking that there must be some setting somewhere in the registry that is blocking thumbnails for mp3 files. If anyone has any answers, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Try deleting the thumbnails cache so that it gets rebuilt on restart:

Unfortunately, that didn’t help. Any other ideas out there?

Believe it or not, I was able to find a solution:

Default File Type Associations – Restore | Tutorials (sevenforums.com)

Used the default mp3 file .reg file and it restored everything to normal.
