    All,

On a new Dell OptiPlex 3000 I customized the SendTo menu to make it much larger.

Weirdly, it doesn’t work using Shift R-click. Instead, I have to R-click the item I want to send, then click Show More Options at the bottom of the menu, THEN click SendTo at which point the expanded SendTo menu appears.

I copied the SendTo menu changes to the only user-configurable locations I could find on my PC: namely the following  C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo
as well as the identical path under my own username.

Still, without using Show More Options, all I ever see (as reflected in the attachment) is this pretty much useless list:

    Bluetooth Device
    Compressed (zipped) Folder
    Copy to Desktop (shortcut)
    Mail Recipient

If anyone knows of a way to make the Shift R-Click menu show the expanded menu, I’d really be grateful for the help.

    Thanks,

    Will

      Will,

I’ll assume you’re running Windows 11 since you don’t specify and it’s a new machine.

The easiest way to fix this problem, IMHO, is to use StartAllBack $3.00. It will take you back to the easier to use menus of Win 7.

Below is a capture of my SendTo menu, which I reached by right-clicking the file, then left-clicking the SendTo option. The items Highlighted in Red are my additions. Gotta clean up that test entry though!

BTW: My additions are located at:
      C:\Users\[USERID-HERE]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo

      To post a screenshot:
      Save the screenshot as PNG.
Click the “Select File” button at the bottom of the post text box.
Browse to the file and select.
      Viola!

Attaching a PDF means we have to download the file, open it, then delete it. Too much work for us volunteers. 🙂

      cheers, Paul

That is Windows 11’s Fast menu. To get the classic Context menu (R-click) which is fully expanded there is a Registry key that can be added.

Open an Administrator Command window and enter the following command at the prompt:

      reg add HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32 /ve /d "" /f

Press Enter and the prompt will indicate that the key was added successfully.
Reboot for change to take effect.

        Dana, that is brilliant!

I had not seen that registry fix documented anywhere.

Now my expanded SendTo list is accessible with a standard R-click just as with Windows 10.

        Many thanks!

All set, Dana’s registry fix solved the problem.
