    I am to receive a new computer shortly with no added bloatware or programs and will be setting it up starting at the builder’s OOBE.  I then need to install Retail CTR Home and Business Office 2024. I intend to utilize Classic Outlook (POP server), not New Outlook,  and transfer my .pst file only over from my Office CTR Home and Business 2016 currently being used on my Window 10 computer.

    I recently read that the MS Windows 11 install itself will/may install a Trial version of Office (365 – I guess) along with New Outlook.

    Can anyone confirm this is true?

    @kathy-stevens
    has written extensively regarding removal of her existing Office 2021 and installing CTR Office 2024.  But my question(s) pertain to what needs to be done on a new system with a TRIAL version of Office (365?) already installed.

    Does/can/should the Trial version be firstly uninstalled?

    Does it need to be?  Or, there was some cryptic reference that maybe you can take MS up on its Trial Offer and elect to buy/download either subscription 365 or a CTR version? Depending on what Product Code is entered?

    Does anyone have experience/knowledge of whether this is correct?  Or, how it works?

    Finally, I am going to set new computer up as a Local Account.  My Office 2016 required me to provide a MS Account log in in order to download & install that version, but then allowed me to sign out and still have complete functionality.

    Does 2024 CTR Office Home and Business install/operate the same?  Does anything change whether you buy the product from a reputable 3rd party or from MS itself as respects the install or getting caught up with a Microsoft account?

      The installation of trial versions of software is a deal between the software vendor and hardware OEM. You may or may not get the trial version of Office. I recommend uninstalling any trial versions you do not want as part of your initial setup and before you install any of your licensed software.

      I recently reinstalled Win 10 Home on a laptop from bare metal and yes it came with the Stub for Office. I uninstalled it before adding an existing 365 license.

        @RetiredGeek

        Did you use the Windows 11 Control Panel Uninstaller or another method?

        Can you answer any of my  other questions, especially does the trial (Stub?) offer various purchase offers (365 or CTR options)?

        @joep517

        Anything further to add in the event that I get tagged with the trial (Stub?)

          Hi Tex265:

          My Dell Inspiron 5584 / Win 10 laptop shipped from the factory with a trial version of Microsoft 365 and I used the Easy Fix tool (SetupProd_OffScrub.exe) shown in the Microsoft video Uninstall Office to wipe Microsoft 365 off my laptop before installing Microsoft Office 2019 C2R. If I recall correctly this tool did a good job of scrubbing Microsoft 365 off my system.

          I believe you can also use the related Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) tool described the MS support article Uninstall Office From a PC (see the second option titled “Uninstall Microsoft 365 or Office with the uninstall troubleshooter”). Just note that this uninstall troubleshooter currently requires Win 10 or higher and can’t uninstall Office 2024, but that shouldn’t be a concern for you if you’re purchasing a new Win 11 computer.

      Tex,

      The trial will load the full M365 for the trial period.
      Hhen tou purchase a license that will derermine what works going forward.

      I used Settings -> Apps to do the uninstall.
