• Windows 10 version 2004, installing again??

A friend asked me why his update to 2004 release had failed a day or two ago, when his update history clearly shows the update was successful back in June. This time in August, it failed with 0xc19001e1 error.  Why is it ring to install again, is it a revised version? Any suggestions I can pass on welcome.

There is a difference between a version update (upgrade to a different version like 1903 or 1909  to v2004) and a monthly update (Cumulative Update).

If the update to v2004 was successful, and he did not revert back to an older version, then what failed would be a monthly Cumulative Update. If he reverted to the previous version back in June, then it’s possible this was a failure of an upgrade to v2004.

It would help it we could have a screenshot of Windows Update History including both actions so we know what we are dealing with.
