I’ve been maintaining ver.1709 and studiously avoiding subsequent versions, with WUS carefully disabled day by day, carrying out periodic manual updates. The latest update that worked was KB4493441 (May). But three ver.1709 patches listed on the pdf refuse to install, instead showing ‘N/A on your PC’ messages. They’re KB4499179, KB4505062 and KB4500641. Anybody have any advice on this, please? Thanks!

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody MVPJuly 1, 2019 at 1:12 pm #1864456From May 14, 2019—KB4499179 (OS Build 16299.1146):
Reminder: Windows 10, version 1709, will reach end of service on April 9, 2019 for devices running Windows 10 Home, Pro, Pro for Workstation, and IoT Core editions. These devices will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates that contain protection from the latest security threats. To continue receiving security and quality updates, Microsoft recommends updating to the latest version of Windows 10.
So, the updates you mentioned most likely have code to check the version and if you are running Home or Pro will probably not install.

AskWoody LoungerJuly 7, 2019 at 7:50 am #1870835On second thoughts, it seems from Patch Lady’s postings that some people still get patches for WindowsXP — so why not W10 1709? Curious. And of course, the ‘latest version of Windows 10’ actually means ver. 1903, which AskWoody is still warning against. (Mind you, my wife’s just installed all the latest, including 1903, and as yet — fingers crossed — hasn’t had any problems.) As always, advice welcomed!
