I’m a bit late to the July patch party, but just noting that July 12 2022 updates (KB5015807) causes Windows Recovery to crash when opened (on some systems).  I’ve confirmed that rolling it back fixes the issue.  I’m unsure if the July 26 2022 update fixes the issue.

It is reported by others here:

      I’ll report it to Microsoft.

Just checked my own PC’s and thankfully they don’t have this problem!

I don’t have this problem either, but I did notice some very detailed event log contents on the answers forum linked to by @Hailstorm .

I’m willing to bet that those who posted those logs may very well have had their data automatically reported to MS by the Windows Error reporting system that collects and submits data when there’s a MS app that crashes or otherwise misbehaves.

Although I’ve set the privacy for telemetry as high as I can on Windows 10 x64 Pro, Windows error reporting still submits reports when parts or pieces of Windows either misbehave or crash on my machines. It has also collected data and submitted reports to MS when a non MS program has “crashed” while being shut down properly a few times, but I’ve ignored those and deleted them from the list.

Just curious: Where/How do you lookup a crash report is going to Microsoft?

Windows 10 22H2 desktops & laptops on Dell, HP, ASUS; No servers, no domain.

Thanks for checking your systems.  I suspect that the problem is not very widespread.  It is annoying if you are impacted though!  🙂
