I have 3 Windows 10 Pro computers and 1 Windows 10 Home computer.

The 3 Windows 10 Pro PCs have an OS Build of 19042.1083, for 20H2.

The Windows 10 Home has already been updated ti Windows 21H1.

My questions is this: When one clicks on Check for updates on the Windows 10 pro PC, is

there a reason from Microsoft that Windows 10 Pro is not receiving the update message to

    21H1?

I am just curious in that one think that both would receive this update message.

Any information for this apparent disparity would be appreciated.

      Microsoft is never reasonable.
Never click on ‘check for updates’.
Set in GP TVR to 21H1.
      Set in GP ‘Notify..’=2

Did you put in the targetreleaseversion setting either via group policy or registry key to keep it on 2004?

        They’re already on 20H2, not 2004.

        Susan,

I used this registry key to keep Windows 10 20H2 from updating to 21H1:

Consider putting in the registry key to defer the next feature release, which is expected to appear shortly. You can download the 20H2 registry key which will block the next feature release from this link.

Where can I find the reversal of this registry key?

          Susan,

I found the registry key to enter in another AskWoody newsletter.

I manually edited the LocalMachine location for Windows Update.

Once I did, I was able to successfully update to Windows 10 Pro 21H1 all of my

          Windows 10 Pro PCs.

Thanks for continuing this fabulous newsletter.

AKB2000016 Guide for Windows Update Settings for Win10.

Section 1 has general information about the settings.
Section 2 is about Home Edition, but explains the settings in more detail.
      Section 5 is about v2004/20H2/21H1.
There are screenshots below the instructions to show where the settings are located n Group Policy and the Registry.

It could be you have upgrades blocked somewhere for the Win10 Pro machines.
      Check for third-party update blockers.
Check in the Settings App and under Advanced Settings for Pause settings.
See AKB2000016 for possible Group Policy and Registry settings.

      Susan,

After not having been able to update from 1903 I followed your advice and downloaded the ISO from the site.  It downloaded and now I have 21H1.  At the same time I lost all sound on my pc.  Last night up till 2 AM looking for a fix.  Instead I found many other users who had exactly the same problem.  I went to bed after reading 3 pages of sad attempts at restoring sound (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/problem-with-windows-10-ver-21h1-all-audio/b06d02e3-461e-4867-a958-09ea601ebd08). I had to go to sleep.  There are 11 pages total.  There may be some kind of (temporary) fix but it doesn’t appear so even on page 11.  I have ASUS GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0.  Is there any way I can get sound back without having to do a clean install?
