Win Ver: 10.0.15063 Build 15063
OOSU10: 1.6.1395
Too bad OOSU10 doesn’t notify you in real time that Windows security settings have been changed, but it doesn’t so you have to load the program every now and then and check to make sure that all of your settings remain as you wish them to be.
I wasn’t very good at checking so I have no idea how long this issue has been occurring. Recently, I noticed that in OOSU10 under the SECURITY heading, the settings for Telemetry #1 & Telemetry #3 were being reset at regular intervals even though I continually disabled them again. Obviously Windows doesn’t like these settings to be disabled and set about overriding my choices.
Has anyone else noticed this behavior? One or both of the settings were usually reset shortly after a reboot which is a pain as a reboot is required to disable these settings (a dog chasing it’s own tail scenario). I believe I have prevented the SYSTEM from making changes on its own. I won’t detail what I did at this point, I’m just curious if others have noticed telemetry settings (in my case) or other security choices being reset or overridden by Windows whenever it feels like doing so?
After a bit of monitoring, I figured out that it was services.exe that was rewriting the registry values for these two telemetry settings.
