Windows 10 Home update: wushowhide.diagcab won’t download

First…. I’m not sure where this should go. I’ve been looking at so many threads re: setting up and updating.

Background: I’m moving along with the setting up of 2 desktops, both Win10 Home. Following advice to my earlier post, I downloaded/used the ISO and was updated to 20H2. Seems to be OK, but then I’m still offline and not fully up and running. This is a slow process for me but I’m learning!

Today, I wanted to nail down the update situation. Reading (and re-reading) PKCano’s explanation AKB2000016, it seems that with Home edition, my options are limited: Pause; Metered connections; Wushowhide.

The first two are OK. But wushowhide.diagcab won’t download from the link. According to answers on the Microsoft Forum, the problem started a month ago and is ongoing.  https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/wushowhidediagcab-download-link-broken/093d3e6e-aa33-474d-8cba-ced2186102cc

So …. what should do?
Shall I set pause/metered connections and continue with getting the computer fully set up?

NB:  My Win8.1 machine is still OK and online. Handy for reading this forum and for downloads, such as the ISO.

Microsoft removed wushowhide downloads.

Better use WuMgr or WuMt. Both free and portable.

wushowhide can be downloaded from MajorGeeks

The link in Section 1 of AKB2000016 to wushowhide.diagcab is a download from OlderGeeks.com and it works.

Thank you so much for the speedy reply and link. Thought I tried it yesterday, but obviously not. At that point, I was cross-eyed from reading up, down and all round the site, trying to make sure I’m doing things right. But, now that I’ve got the download ….onwards!
