BIG BIG BIG problem with Build 14361.

Settings/Privacy – these choices abend the Settings window:
Camera, Microphone, Notifications, Account information, Contacts, Calendar, Call history, Email, Radios, Messaging.

These work: General, Speech inking and typing, Feedback and diagnostics, Background apps.

      Small problems
      Changes made to my settings:
Almost all background apps were turned on – I had turned them off.
Get Office was back – I had uninstalled.
Network settings were changed from accounts and passwords to Let Windows manage.
System Restore was set to “off” again.

      That’s so far…

Thanks much. System Restore “off” would be a BIg Biggie for me. Now I will remember to check it after Every Upgrade.

      Known issue, documented in https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2016/06/08/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-14361/#zilSzXhdP4fUYlp9.99

Navigating to the Privacy pages in Settings app will crash the Settings app and prevent you from adjusting your privacy settings. Your privacy settings already set will remain intact after updating to this build. If this is a blocker for you, you can move to the Slow ring until this bug is fixed or be sure to set your privacy settings before updating to this build.

Note the ones that work are the ones that collect information for Microsoft!!!!

System restore / volume shadow copy have been life savers in the past. They are not the solution to many problems, but they sure help. Microsoft considers them irrelevant as of windows 8.

    • #41219

Yes, but they’re still there, in both Win8 and Win10.

There is a good reason why it is on the way out. System Restore was never a very good tool.
