      Is this for Vista only?

        Alan,

It would appear that WinBubble is written for Vista.

If you’re a beginner in computers, and by incidence you’ve stumbled in this website. One way or another, you’ll have a difficulty in applying some tweaks because of the brittleness of Windows settings.

        Two Clicks, “Check and Apply”

In just two clicks, WinBubble will help you to Customize and Tweak your Windows Vista easily. Its features cover Customization, Security and Optimization.

However, looking at this utility, I can see where it might be used for XP as some of the mods/tweaks are identical in XP. You would have to actually try it to determine its compatibility with XP. WinBubble doesn’t have an installer . . . you simply extract (copy) the zipped files to a folder and location of your choice. To uninstall, simply delete the folder.

yep Same program that Joe linked to but this is notification of an update: v. 1.72 –> 1.73.

Oh I know, Jeff, I was just confirming the “Vista” bit. I’ve been trying to get used to using it since Joe posted. The first thing I did was get rid of that censored shortcut arrow that I’ve hated ever since Windows was born.

Just downloaded to my Vista machine. Looks like it is a keeper.

Pilgrim, hello and greetings from the great free state of Tennessee
Jeff went to the “unlock for us” home page and downloaded 1st vs 1.71 (regain start search) At the set up screen set various switches logged off … no luck, nothing whatsoever happened. Then i tried the 1.73 version, at the set up screen, again set switches logged off and nothing?
Have any ideas what im doing wrong? (except fooling with computers) Regards Plain Fred.

        Fred,

I’m not sure what you mean by “set switches”?? scratch Perhaps if you supplied a screenshot of what you did it might help me and others to understand where the problem might lie. grin

          Pilgrim Hello,
Thanks for the response. What i meant by “set switches” is,when the Win Bubble screen “pop up” displayed i set, or clicked on the tabs, buttons “switches” (my choices) then clicked on apply , then logged off. After logging back on …no changes . ex .desk icon ,no search back on start panel etc. Regards Plain Fred.
PS. don’t know how to do a “screen shot”

It may depend on the version, but Vista itself has a nifty and included ‘Snipping Tool’ (for screenshots) in Accessories. I have a link to it in my QuickStart programs.
