If one is using wushowhide and set the delay in Advanced options of Windows update to lets say 60 days today, one will see 1903 and if one sets it to 0 one sees 1909.  Would that change in a week or so?

Shouldn’t the title be : Win10 Update Assistant to move to 1909 next week ?

Is “Win10 Update Assistant” the same as what one gets by using “Settings/Update & Security”?

Also, it is my understanding that Askwoody as not yet given the go ahead to update from ver. 1809 to ver. 1903; is that correct?

      Thanks, CMA

Windows 10 Update Assistant support page information. Download from here.

        That is correct.

          Thanks, PK.

So I can assume that we are still waiting for the go ahead on Ver. 1809 update to ver. 1903?

Actually, the Update Assistant if it is run live will do a lot more than create and run the installer. It performs checks to see if your system is ready for the upgrade, then does all the downloading and installing. The MCT doesn’t do these tests.

I’m not sure what happens if you go through MS Update, but in the past, this method also did not perform the preliminary checks to see if your system is ready. I had a memorable experience where an upgrade failed because of this difference. I’ve used the Upgrade Assistant ever since, until now.

Well, on my Home edition computer Win 10 Update Assistant  moved from 1903 to 1909 today – 15th November.  I am still running 1809 and have no intention of moving.  Luckily I followed Woody’s suggestion and have a download copy of  1903. I believe MS are reading Askwoody and pre-empting Woody’s predictions.

Just checked and 1903 is no longer available via Creation Tool download route – now 1909.

I agree, 1909 is now the only option for the media creation tool, and the update option is Windows10Upgrade9252.

I’ve also stopped being offered 1903 and am being offered 1909 instead.

First time I saw “Win 10 Update Assistant”.   How is it different from Windows Update?
I saw the MS page describing it, but that page explained nothing.
      Thanks.

In the past, the Update Assistant would perform some preliminary tests to make sure your system is ready for the update. I’m not sure that happens anymore, but that’s why I always use the Update Assistant when I can.

I have Win 10 ver. 1809 on 5 machines–2 are Home and 3 are Pro.

Can I use the same Win1903.ISO file to upgrade all 5 machines when Woody gives the OK signal; or do I have to use the Media Creation tool on each of the machines?

      • #2006269

You can use the same ISO for all machines provided the bitedness (32-bit or 64-bit) is the same..

I also noticed that this time, instead of the previous version remaining available for those of us who might download the ISO under Linux, the “Windows 10” option is only for version 1909 this time. No more grace period even there!
