AskWoody_MVPNovember 16, 2019 at 10:47 am #2006320Actually, the Update Assistant if it is run live will do a lot more than create and run the installer. It performs checks to see if your system is ready for the upgrade, then does all the downloading and installing. The MCT doesn’t do these tests.
I’m not sure what happens if you go through MS Update, but in the past, this method also did not perform the preliminary checks to see if your system is ready. I had a memorable experience where an upgrade failed because of this difference. I’ve used the Upgrade Assistant ever since, until now.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 15, 2019 at 3:25 am #2005646Well, on my Home edition computer Win 10 Update Assistant moved from 1903 to 1909 today – 15th November. I am still running 1809 and have no intention of moving. Luckily I followed Woody’s suggestion and have a download copy of 1903. I believe MS are reading Askwoody and pre-empting Woody’s predictions.
Just checked and 1903 is no longer available via Creation Tool download route – now 1909.
