Win10 2024-05 Cumulative Update Stuck 0% Downloading

After getting Susan’s go ahead, I initiated May 2024 windows update. The other updates got installed, but 2024-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5037768) is stuck on 0% downloading for several hours.

I am on Windows 10 22H2 version 10.0.19045.4291 on a HP laptop 64 bit.

I was using WuMgr to manually control windows update, but when it was stuck on the above update, I killed the app and switched to automatic Windows update. But the same problem of it being stuck in 0% downloading persists in the standard Windows update. It has been stuck in 0% updating for over 4 hours.

Should I just leave it and wait longer to see if it resolves?

Or should kill it, reboot and try again?

A couple of things to check:

In WUMgr, be sure that updates are set to automatic and you did not block 5037768 in the process of “killing the app.”
Check that your Internet connection is not set to Metered.

My internet connection is not metered.

In windows update; Download updates over metered connections is selected.

KB5037768 is not blocked.

Still at 0% after another couple of hours.

I am shutting down laptop now. Will try again tomorrow and hope it resolves itself.

Metered doesn’t affect WuMgr. This is how I use it.

Maybe the internet is slow and you just need to be (even more) patient?

With no progress in downloading after several hours, I rolled back to the prior restore point. After that the downloading finished in a few minutes and the installation too finished in half an hour. I am still not sure what caused the problem. The internet was working the whole time and all other apps had good connectivity.

I had similar. Mine stuck on all installed but the cumulative at 20% installed and the nag to retart. So after 20 minutes I did. Stuck on Getting Windows Ready for maybe another 20 minutes with NO progress. Then ran.

 

Still NOTHING changed in Lock Screen Widgets (just do not work – a fix?) and a crash in the restart application with a memory dump.
