Win10 1903 killed my scan in HP Officejet Pro 8610

The 8610 can still print, but ‘Scan a Document or Photo’ is dead. Error message says “The HP Officejet Pro 8610 was not found”, but the Printer test page works fine. USB connection from 8610 to computer, not wireless. It was working fine before the upgrade from 1809. Did 1903 break the scan feature? should I uninstall and reinstall? or is it a driver? The HP Print and Scan Doctor software finds nothing wrong, so it doesn’t fix anything. HP Help is useless. Is this a Microsoft issue or HP problem? I suspect MS, since scan worked fine until the update to 1903.

First: The scanner still works and you can make a copy of a document without an external computer?

Second: Yes, possibly it probably did break something… Check if HP has any new printer driver package. If you were using the complete driver and software suite, download the Full Feature software and drivers package.

If you have a huge amount of custom print or scan settings write them down somewhere. You should completely uninstall the old and reinstall the new printer driver. In my experience Windows 10 thinks it knows much better than you about your preferred printer driver software leading to duplicate printers and other foolish behaviors.
