I’m just joking. The real megathread is on Reddit. But it’s definitely not for the faint of heart. Here’s what I’m seeing on the latest build (bare me

For those who use it, there’s a New Firefox 59.0.3 that fixes a Windows 10 April 2018 compatibility issue.

I suspect I missed a post confirming that this is version 1803 even though it’s dubbed April 2018 Update?

1803 update, dubbed April 2018 Update, that was nearly delivered in May 😛

Kinda gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling about build quality, amirite?

Well, the message is quite easy to understand, isn’t it?

You just get your group or ressource in the correct state. Gee.

On my install it shows up on the desktop as: Build 17134.rs4_release.180410-1804

On the other hand WinVer reports Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.1)

      Seems MS isn’t quite sure!

Today (April 30) is International Jazz Day. Microsoft missed a great opportunity to name 1803 something other than April 2018 Update. (The folks at Bing marked IJD.)

EDIT: On second thought, UNESCO (which, according to Wikipedia, is the body that declared IJD) and the musicians behind IJD would probably balk at Microsoft co-opting it for its own use.

For all of you new 1803 users, Microsoft’s Windows 10 protection from Spectre 2 is now gone.

        @GoneToPlaid-

        Where did you see that?

Does that mean that W10 will get a buggy patch to fix it, and then a buggy rollup, and then have to rollback to 1709… and then redownload… and a manual patch… and… well, you know…

We wouldn’t want W10 1803/4 users to feel ignored!

Whole library of W10 ISO’s saved up here… probably not ever going to want to use them…

Sure wishing you all the best…you’re going to need it!

I searched for Spectre in the Reddit megathread. Not sure if anyone has confirmed it though. I don’t use Win10. Is 1803 passing tests for Spectre with the two online checkers that I am aware of?

Please tell us this is just a sick joke! Surely Satya and his Malware Makers aren’t playing THIS old tune again! Please!?

That Reddit thread makes it sound like an alpha build to many users! MS needs to get to a once a year release – 6 months to develop or deprecate, 6 to fix it, THEN release it.

OK, I have installed 1803 on my 3rd hard drive. First question arises – how do I block installation of Candy Crush etc. in a nicest way on W10 Pro? I don’t want to turn off auto-update of Store apps… They keep reinstalling and reinstalling.

Ah, that is good news as it appears that Microsoft has baked Spectre 2 protection into 1809.

      First benchmarks:

      Unigine Valley – W8.1: 3213 / W10: 3243
      ROTR – W8.1: 50.68 fps / W10: 51.45 fps
      Arkham Knight – W8.1: 66 fps / W10: 67 fps
      GTA IV – W8.1: 59.53 fps / W10 : 63.87 fps
      Bioshock Infinite: W8.1: 97.54 fps / W10: 98.08 fps

Looks like there’s actually some improvment over W8.1 finally. All in all, does not look bad after a few hours of using. Will do further testing and maybe even switch at some point.

EDIT: funny thing… Just ran Cinebench R15:
      W8.1 82.03 fps / 542 cb
      W10: 101.16 fps / 539 cb

      W8.1 Nvidia drivers to blame?
