I haven’t received any “Security Intelligence Updates for Defender Antivirus” for four days. I usually get at least one per day. Anyone else noticed this or know what the problem is, if any?

Windows Defender continues  to receive regular definition updates.

      Try this method:

      • Click on the shield in the system tray.
      • Select Virus & Threat Protection
      • Select Check for Updates
        wd01
      • Select Check for Updates
        wd02
      On permanent hiatus {with backup and coffee}

@doneager, you could manually download the latest definition files from:
      https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/defenderupdates
this can fix issues, as has happened in the past with MSE and Defender from experience.

Run this command in PowerShell to update Defender.

      Update-MpSignature

Alternatively, run the whole thing as a command / scheduled task (I do after Defender stopped updating and I couldn’t be bothered working out why).

      powershell.exe -WindowStyle Hidden -Command Update-MpSignature

Well, the information you provided led me to what I believe is the cause of missing Defender updates. I am currently running the Protection features of Acronis True Image 2021, which offers functionality not available in Defender. This is what shows up when I look at Virus & Threat Protection in Windows. If I permanently disable the ATI, I can see Defender information under V & T P. I was then able to download and install the latest Security Intelligence update. So, it appears that in order to keep Defender updated, I have to periodically stop ATI, temporarily re-start Defender, then do an update. After that, re-start ATI which stops Defender.

      Thanks

ATI is replacing Defender so you no longer get updates. This is normal.

You need to decide if you want to run ATI or Defender.
What features does ATI have that you think you need?

      cheers, Paul

Ransomware and cryptomining protection. However, this may not be an issue soon as I’m considering abandoning ATI due to backup/recovery issues.
