I am going to upgrade to a new Win8 laptop. (now using Win7 Home Premium)
What is the best reference to learn Win8, the dummies books or is there something
else that would be better for a 77 year old senior? All suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks, Tom

Here on Woody’s Lounge (formerly), we’d better say Woody’s!: Windows 8 All-in-One For Dummies

It does get overwhelmingly good reviews on Amazon.com. And not bad value at $20 for 1080 pages.

Dell have a free downloadable version of Windows 8 For Dummies available. You have to supply some contact information for marketing purposes though. I thought it was a good book, full of useful information (and a realistically cynical view of Microsoft’s more bizarre design decisions).

      Tom,

I can highly recommend the ebook in this post. It’s over 600 pages and starts with a good overview of computers and windows in general before it gets into win 8 and at $4.50 you can’t beat the price. HTH
