If you bought your ESU through Harbor Computer Services and are having problems getting it to work, by all means contact them! I bought one ESU through them, but had a problem getting it to “take”, so I emailed them Sunday morning, not expecting a reply until the week was under way. Well, Ted from HCS got back to me that afternoon (!), had me run a check and send him the results, and within another hour he had gotten back to me with the solution, which was applied and confirmed when the Feb roll-up then appeared. So do not hesitate to ask for help! And this is where I want to thank not only Ted and Amy, but Susan and Woody and all the others who made it feasible for a one-license-needed person to get it.

Just a couple of notes: I, too, had a great experience dealing with HCS. My machine was unable to see the February updates, and, indeed, installed and then backed out KB4537820. I discovered that both Windows 7 and the ESU “License Statuses” MUST be “Licensed” for updates to work. I had ‘activated’ the wrong ID– the one for the OS, and not the one for the ESU key.

I seem to have successfully installed the key, etc. from HCS however when I following instructions I’m told to follow at:

      https://www.askwoody.com/2020/patch-lady-windows-7-esu-last-minute-requirement/

and download KB4538483 and run it, I am told I need to install KB2533552. When I download that and run it, I am told the system already has KB2533552 installed. KB4538483 installer refuses to install itself asking for KB2533552 which is already installed.

How do I get out of this infinite loop?

Have you installed all the OTHER annoying prerequisites of the SSUs and all that?

There are no SSUs listed in my Windows Update list… just an optional .NET update.

The SSU will not appear in the queue until/unless there are on other pending (checked or unchecked ) updates. Temporarily HIDE the .NET match and search for updates to see if the SSU will appear.

do not download KB2533552 manually from the MS update catalog as that one could say it’s already installed

install either KB2533552 or KB976902 from windows update only

I went ahead and installed the “optional” .NET update and then an SSU update appeared after the reboot. I installed that and then the KB4538483 would install. I’m now seeing updates such as KB4556836 (2020-5 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems) available. Since that is a post cutoff update, I’m assuming I’m getting ESU updates now. Right?
