win 7 doesn’t provide log on screen?

Hello – All,
I think something is proving problematic with my Dell win 7-64bit home premium system???
When I start the computer each morning my log on screen does NOT appear just a blank windows . It’s happened twice now, I have to shut the monitor off then it appears the log on, sometimes. IF not, have to shut down and restart.
What’s causing this, video card or ???? Invidia geforce 310 is up to date.
Thanks for tips or help to resolve this issue.
