I am running win 7 on a lenovo laptop and I have a win 10 install dvd (from the iso) which I have used successfully to install win10 on a desktop.

I have over 130GB of free space on the Lenovo but I get the message “cannot initialise working directory”. All the help on this problem only suggests not enough space on hd.

    Any help would be appreciated

Are you starting the upgrade from within Windows 7? Are there multiple disk drives in the PC?

Not many Notebooks/Laptops have two drives but he could have an additional storage partition on the only drive.

Before you wonder "Am I doing things right," ask "Am I doing the right things?"
