My HP desktop with Windows 10 home updated to 2004 yesterday. Now it takes 5-10 minutes to login, Chrome starts in 5-10 minutes and websites are unusable. Same problem with other software. CPU is pegged at 100% but disk usage is not high. The PC is unusable. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Revert to your previous Windows version or restore from backup will get you running.

When you have a working system again, post details of your system and software running and we may be able to suggest some changes prior to the update (if you must update to 2004, not recommended).

      cheers, Paul

How do I revert to a previous version?

What happens when 2004 is once again forced on my computer? I have Win 10 Home.

I found the culprit… My cloud backup software. Installed a newer version and all is normal.

While I don’t have the symptoms that you are having, I did find some information that iCloud can effect Windows 10 search function.  I accidentally manually triggered the feature update to version 2004 a few days ago.  Ever since then I’ve had the problem. However, I’m not finding that I have iCloud installed.  I have checked the Add/Remove programs panel as well as the Task Manager’s list of programs and services.  I’m kinda tempted to install the latest iCloud to see if that fixes my program.  I don’t have any Apple products or services that I can think of.

I just realized you didn’t say it was iCloud.  Which cloud service was it?  I have iDrive and OneDrive. Both of those programs say they are up to date.

Idrive. Uninstall it, download the latest version and install it.

My Search problem has been resolved.  Yesterday’s Microsoft cumulative 2004-10 update fixed the problem. I usually wait 3 to 4 weeks before allowing those updates to take place but I let this one go thru in hopes it would correct the problem.
