I don’t know if this is the right forum, as I don’t really know what the problem is. On my old computer, Win 98, I think even with MSIE 6.0 but maybe only with 5.5, when I included this link on my home page: http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/cgi-bin/xbmclock.xbm?zone=PST%5B/url%5D , it would display the current time. On my new computer, Win XP, MSIE 6.0 sp2, I just get a ‘picture not found’ box. I get the same [non]result now if I try to open the address from the url line. The current time does display when I open the page for editing in FrontPage 2000. Is there a setting I have to click or unclick in the browser or what?

According to USNO ANIMATED GIF CLOCKS, the clocks use server-push technology, which is not supported by Internet Explorer. You can view the time/clocks OK in FireFox. There is an alternative page that works in IE: What time is it?

Thanks, Hans. I did read that, but is that MSIE or XP? On my friend’s computer, using Win 98 but MSIE 6.0 sp1, the clock IS displayed. Why the difference on the XP platform? Is it that 98 does not support the code that blocks the push technology? I did find the other link you mentioned and tried everything I could think of to have it display just the PST time, but I couldn’t figure it out and I don’t want the display of those other time zones.

I’m sorry, I don’t have other Windows versions than XP to test on. Perhaps Loungers with other Windows versions can try it.
