    Hi,

When I goto http://www.myrealbox.com which is Novell’s competitor to Hotmail (they give 10Mb free, while Hotmail give 2Mb!) & double click the red warning icon on the browser status bar, the message comes up which is shown in the attached scrn. shot.

My Q. is WHY is it blocking cookies from Novell?

Have you checked which sites you have entered as being restricted?

As the window says: “Based on YOUR privacy settings…”

If the domain of the “main” page is not novell.com, then those are considered “third party” cookies.

Guess that’s what it is as I didn’t block anything.

        Better safe than sorry huh.

IE6 doesn’t block third-party cookies carte blanc — unless you set it up that way. There are specific rules it uses by default (I can get detailed if you like…). The Novell site may not have a “Compact Policy” or the Compact Policy may not be considered “acceptable” to Microsoft.

Select one of the cookies and click the Summary button. That may inform you that the site did not bother to make a Compact Policy.

I forgot about that. I overrode automatic cookie handling right after I fired it up and never looked back.

An the answer is… They did not bother to make a Compact Policy. However, from the Summary screen you can tell IE to always accept their cookie.

Is this what musab would have seen this dialog if he had selected an item in the dialog he posted and then clicked the Summary button? Perhaps we should have suggested that originally. wink

              Yes to both, I believe.

Oh, I inadvertently ran across this: Privacy in Internet Explorer 6. In case any one was interested…
