Whiteboard (Excel 2000)

Hello,
Can anyone tell me what the Whiteboard is/does in Excel?
Also, I would like to able to highlight some text (like you do in Word) can you do this in Excel?

I use excel97 and there is not whiteboard, so you will have to wait for someone with xl2000 or greater to answer that question.

To highlight text, format – cells and you can add a border, change the font size, background color etc of the cell. You have limited abilities to change the format of chars within a cell, the background color, however is not one of them (at least not in XL97)

Only the host of an online meeting can open the Whiteboard (Whiteboard: Microsoft NetMeeting feature that opens a separate window in which online meeting participants can type text; draw shapes; copy, paste, and delete objects; and highlight or point to text and graphics.) when Windows NetMeeting is used from within Microsoft Office.

On the Online Meeting toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. so basically, it’s a scratchpad for netmeeting when you’re discussing any office document, and not specifically related to excel.

on point b,

I don’t think you can highlight as such – I’ve never come across it – but you can select part of a cell entry and format that independantly of the rest of the entry – it’s just the formatting capabilities don’t extend to the background of the text.
