I’m a recent convert from IE. IE stores its cache in Temporary Internet Files/Contents folder and I have been able to go there and copy out useful jpegs and other things.

Where does Firefox store this sort of thing? I’ve tried searching for known jpegs but have drawn a blank, although they must be somewhere as History brings them back.

There is a Cache folder at the bottom of your Profile directory tree. It does seem a lot smaller than one might expect. It also does not seem to intersect with the IE-based Temporary Internet Files folder. 2cents

This brings up a question that I’ve never tried to get an answer to in all this time of using Mozilla. Mozilla creates files in the cache WITHOUT file extensions. Does Firefox do the same thing? I’ve never needed to retrieve anything from cache myself, so I’ve left the puzzle unsolved. Do you by any chance know of a solution? That’s probably why David can’t find a graphic file by searching.

Firefox also stores its cache contents without extensions. (Mine is ca. 2.5Mb.) I suspect that the data is organised so that it can’t readily be tampered with. The advice for all browsers has always been that the cache contents should not be meddled with. It appears that the Firefox/Mozilla designers have made their system more secure than IE. HTH
