• Where are my subscriptions/subscribed topcs??

My avatar used to be at the bottom of the orange panel on the right. There were links to my subscriptions and links to the other things related to posts (I think a link to my favorites was there, too). It is gone now. Is this by design? Or is it a problem with the program that displays this panel?

I see that there are new links at the top under the Search for topics heading: My active topics, Topics with my replies, My topics with the most replies, My favorite topics, My subscribed topics.

The last two don’t work. I know that there were entries there at one time, definitely for “My subscribed topics” (Under the avatar, I think it was “My subscriptions”.) That’s where I would always to go find them.

Now there’s no way to find them, since the ‘My subscribed topics’ link for them at the top under “Search for topics” doesn’t work.

Click on your profile picture and the link to your subscribed topics and favorites is there.  As far as I’m aware the avatar has never been at the bottom always at the top?

Can you email me at customersupport – at – askwoody.com with a screen shot as

      https://www.askwoody.com/forums/view/my-subscribed-topics/ works for me?

Susan, even your link to your subscribed topics does not work.

OK, so, I used the wrong term — it’s not called an ‘avatar’, but a profile picture.
Anyway, it used to be at the bottom of the orange panel. Like Deo says <here>, it’s all gone. I don’t remember exactly where it was. I just scrolled to the bottom and looked for my profile picture and under that were 3 or 4 links, one of which was a link to my subscriptions. The word “Engagements” appeared in another link. Deo says it was right after the Recent blog posts header.

Even your link https://www.askwoody.com/forums/view/my-subscribed-topics/ doesn’t work for me. I get what you see posted in my 3rd screenshot (3-no-subscribed-topics) at #2743205.

I can’t email you a screenshot, because it’s all gone now. And I never had reason to make a screenshot and save it to give to you now. But, Deo does a good job of describing what it looked/looks like and where it was at the bottom of the orange panel.

When you click on the profile picture on the upper right and go into your profile section – there are various links in that section. Do those links work?

Go in that section.  I see favorites and subscriptions.  Do you? If you do not can you send me that screen shot so I can see what your view looks like? I have admin rights so often I don’t have the same view that you do.

There are no links. There are no links. There are no links.

Yes, it’s all gone. It’s not an ‘avatar’, it’s what used to be listed below recent blogs. What used to be when you logged in was a separate section at bottom of your access to your account: subscribed, favorites, et al. Via PC OR Apple ipad/phone.

What is going on with Ask Woody?

Like any software we get updates.  I don’t remember a personalized link section at the bottom of the site.  I know that if you go up to the profile section and click on your avatar up there, there are subscribed links.  I’ll have to check with Milan who does the bbpress plug ins about the side links.

But there WAS a personalized link section at the bottom of the right orange panel. Deo backs me up on this.

In addition, I’ve sent to Customer Support a couple of screenshots of what I see when I click on my profile picture/avatar at the top of the orange panel. No ‘subscribed links’ is there– nothing but the link ‘Older Entries’ and clicking on that produces a ‘Page not found’.

      No, I don’t.

On the right hand side of that profile section at the top of the site when you click in that profile area there is a heart.  Click on that, it is the favorites.

Okay I think I figured it out.  Culprit was Plug in updates.  Like anything in software, we get updates.  There was an update to the GD bbpress toolbox and it had a bug so I had to pull it out of the site.  Later on it got fixed and I reinstalled it.  But I didn’t realize there was a widget that was in the side margin.  It wasn’t at the bottom next to the calendar, it was up the page a bit in between things.  Clearly I scrolled by and paid no attention.  Had to go to our test/backup site which is still on the prior setup to figure it out.

The widget exposes your profile section, so rather than hearts and the subscription icon, which isn’t too obvious, it uses words/links.

Susan, I’m happy to see that the widget near the bottom is back now. The links are there too — in words, not icons. Yea!! I like it much better than clicking on the profile picture at the top, which gives me icons only.

You’re right about that — I hadn’t noticed those icons and then to figure out what each one was for, I had to depend on the info bubble that pops up when hovering over them.

Keep the widget near the bottom, please.

These are what I’m talking about.  Click on those in the profile section.

        Susan,

‘Topics started’ and ‘replies created’ for a profile doesn’t show the correct posts.

‘Topics started’ and ‘replies created’ for a profile doesn’t show the correct posts.

I’ve had to log out to see anyone’s for three months:

Clicking “Topics Started” or “Replies Created” in any user’s profile do not seem to produce the desired effects.

    • #2743411

      Susan,
      One more problem:

So far, we’ve identified two ways to get to Favorites and Subscriptions:
1 Via the Profile picture at the top – click on the icon
      2) Via the Widget near the bottom – click on the item in the list

There’s a 3rd way – under the Search for Topics heading, where you will see ‘My favorite topics’ and ‘My subscribed topics’ (the last two links). For reference, look at screenshot ‘2-search-for-new-topics’ in my lead post.

But those last two links are devoid of any info.

For the ‘My subscribed topics’ link, I expected to see either 1) the string of icons that I get when I click on my profile picture at the top OR 2) the list that I get when I click on the ‘Subscriptions’ link in the widget near the bottom. But, the page that comes up has no similarity to either one.

The same thing goes for the ‘My favorite topics’ link – nothing has been generated.

It looks to me that these last two can be omitted from the list of links under Search for Topics. Or if you want them there, they need to be fixed so that the relevant info shows up.

Susan, ‘Topics started’ and ‘replies created’ for a profile doesn’t show the correct posts.

@Alex5723, can you please go to your profile page and click on the icon that looks like a group of three people together:Muted-usersSee if your username appears on that page. If it does, that means that you’ve accidentally muted yourself. Simply click the “X” next to your name to remove yourself from that list. That should also restore your listings for Topics created and Replies created back to normal.

I just deliberately muted myself to see what would happen, and I had the same incorrect listings for my Topics created and Replies created as you’ve described.

I did not mute myself and ‘Topics started’ and ‘replies created’ for a profile still doesn’t show the correct posts.

It works for me. But I have Privs.
Maybe it is not accessible to certain groups.

    • #2743642

I see there are quite a few new icons under profile. Not to be picky, yet I’m certain there were words underneath them in previous version explaining what they were ie under folder icon was ‘recents’ (?) or ‘new replies’? Under heart icon was written ‘favourites’? Many new icons as well. See 4th, 5th & 8th icons in this pic (not sure what they reference). All for change if explained: Perhaps a legend could be added somewhere for new users & refresher for rest of us? Thk u

Doesn’t work on IPad, it’s an ipad!  (no mouse obviously, no ports). Prior to these AW ‘changes’, all text under icons were there. Can dig up ipad screenshots if needed. So: can it be confirmed that AW ‘wordpress’ is not able to accommodate Apple devices? Would be good to know! (Lord knows we have to manually jump thru hoops to even “quote”! (I’d quote that discussion, but takes too much time to type out & ensure each bracket and format lands). I do thank you for all you do. Just think Apple peeps being left out?

If your iPad has bluetooth, have you tried a bluetooth mouse? Check specs on the mouse to be sure its compatible before you try.
