I am wanting to connect / network a laptop, desktop, smart phone, blue ray player, and HDTV together.
What to do. I am thinking in terms of Xbox, Sony PS, server etc.. Anyone with experience out there and if so would love to hear. :huh:

What you want is a good wireless router and you can tie all them together as I have. I just purchased a CISCO EA4500 Gigabit router along with a TrendNet 8 port Gigabit switch and currently have the following in my network:

Wired Connections:
4 Desktop computers
2 Laptops (also work wireless)
1 Brother 5370DW Laser Printer (could be wireless)
1 WD-NetCenter NAS drive
1 Samsung BD-C5500c blueray player

Wireless:
2 Galaxy S2 cell phones
1 Vizio VTab1008 Android Tablet
1 Kindle Fire HD 7″ Android Tablet

It all works just fine.

My next project is getting the personal cloud that the router supports up and working. :cheers:
