AskWoody MVPAugust 27, 2021 at 1:25 pm #2386248I don’t have that section, but I’m running on a Microsoft account. My wife is running under a local account, and she does have it.
That suggests that it’s a punitive addition by Microsoft for using a local account rather than an MSA?
It would be interesting to have feedback from others whether they have the banner and use local or MSA accounts.
EDIT: I take that back. I’ve now seen screenshots of MSA users with the ‘new’ banner… so it’s not restricted just to local accounts.

AskWoody PlusAugust 27, 2021 at 3:58 am #2386160Since I have installed the August cumulative up date, I have this banner on top of the parameters page. It wasn’t there before !!!
You can remove the banner by using ViVeTool-v0.2.1 and by following these instructions:
https://winaero.com/disable-settings-header-banner-in-windows-10-2004-and-20h2/
I had the same issue on two 21H1 August updates, but removed the not-asked-for banner per the above. Note that two PS commands are now required. It used to be one, but now it’s two. It’s all your risk .. so do an image backup before trying.

AskWoody PlusAugust 27, 2021 at 6:09 am #2386173Per this link you can also remove the banner without ViVeTool-v0.2.1:
As I used ViVeTool-v0.2.1, I checked the Registry and the referenced entries are all there!

AskWoody PlusSeptember 3, 2021 at 1:26 am #2387524I’m just curious – what’s the objection to the new style for the top banner of Settings?
As AskWoody is just a “speck” on the Internet, Google the issue and you’ll find a multitude of viewpoints, some for the settings banner, some against and plenty I don’t care. Imho, it just steels (my) space and doesn’t add anything of value.

AskWoody MVPSeptember 2, 2021 at 5:13 pm #2387442I haven’t seen it (the Settings page) until today. Mine has the banner, but I never go there, so today is the first time I’ve seen the banner.
I use StartIsBack++ which is a Windows 7 customizable menu, among those customizations being XP style flyout menus, and displaying Settings, Control Panel and such as a menu. I click the Start button, slide the mouse to Settings, then the setting I want to use in the flyout, and click the mouse once more. I go to Windows Update like that every day.
Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!We all have our own reasons for doing the things that we do with our systems; we don't need anyone's approval, and we don't all have to do the same things. We were all once "Average Users". -

Someday I hope we’ve grown enough to become a “spot.”
Imho, it just steels (my) space and doesn’t add anything of value.
I don’t tweak my PC very much, so 90% of my visits relate to security and Windows Update. Having the Update “gadget” one click away has proven useful to me. As for the rest, I’m probably in the “I don’t care” category.
