AskWoody PlusMarch 17, 2025 at 9:19 am #2756354As a Windows 3.0 user from its release in 1990 and Word for Windows from 1.1, I first came across Woody in various Compuserve fora and later messaged with him fairly extensively re W4W 2 and then as beta testers for Packrat – an early information manager. Wow, was he a wonderful, thoughtful guy…I long ago lost touch on a personal level, but have followed his work and career for >30 years. Deepest condolences to his family; his loss touches all of us who ever knew him or benefited from his work!

GuestMarch 17, 2025 at 12:59 pm #2756391What heartbreaking news – thanks, Brian, for sharing. I don’t think there is anyone who was ever associated with Windows, who didn’t know Woody. He was a great friend to WUGNET Publictions for the many years we supported Microsoft, and his books and newsletters have helped millions better understand technology through his unique writing style. RIP, Woody…you’ll always be remembered!
