When showing a userform, I received the message below. Anybody have an idea as to what it means?

This is an RPC error. It means that you have lost the network connection that was providing the data.

        Hi Stuart,

When you say “network connection”, are you referring to an actual network of more than one computer or are you referring to some internal throughput in Excel by which information comes and goes. This happens on a standalone pc when activating a user form.

I guess it could mean an RPC connection to something on the same system.

What controls are on the user form?
What is in the form_activate and form_load procedures?

I believe it was a multipage along with various textboxes and buttons. In conjunction with the original message I also got the illegal operation message. I lost a little bit of work when I restored the backup.

              Hi Jan,

Never did use your utility because I am writing this for work. I do however, back up the directory I am working in after every big “achievement” or every couple of hours or so, whichever comes first (usually the “couple of hours or so”, mainly so!)
