This suddenly appeared in my Panda Dome process monitor tonight.

I know that DXPServer.exe is the Device Experience Stage Platform Server, but, I have no idea what would make it run.

The only thing that I did differently this time was to double click my printer in the Devices and Printers menu and then click Customize your printer instead of right clicking my printer and clicking Printer Properties.

Could this be what triggered it?

(edit: If I go in and click Customize your printer, the ‘last scan’ column in my process monitor shows DXPServer.exe being scanned at the exact time I clicked Customize your printer.

That makes me reasonably sure I triggered it, I just don’t know why it triggered.)

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, your printer’s manufacturer driver has added this Microsoft Device Stage technology which is supposed to ease the use of your printer.

(Another way to confirm that customizing your printer launches DXPServer.exe in realtime: You can open task manager beforehand then click on Details to see if DXPServer.exe is added to the list.)

I did not expect this to turn out so simple.

Thanks for the info and the link.
