One of the Excel menu options is: Insert->Name->Label…

Can someone give me an example of what I can do once I have defined a Label Range using this function, that I cannot do if I haven’t?

I just can’t figure out what this function is supposed to do???

    TIA

I suspect it has something to do with the option one can set under tools, options, calculation: Accept labels in formulas.
This setting will force Excel to try and figure out what cell you refer to if you enter a label in a formula, that is used as a row or column heading for a tabel.
I never use that option, since I have heard you can get into trouble when a label exists more than once on your worksheet. So I prefer to use “normal” defined names.

        Ahh, got it.

If that flag is set AND you define the label ranges AND you use the mouse to select a cell in the table, then the label intersect formula is entered in the cell (although the column or row label will not be placed in a SUM formula referring to the whole column/row).
