AskWoody LoungerMarch 20, 2018 at 7:25 am #177141I’ve installed everything (W8.1 + Office 2007) apart from the 2018-03 rollup (like 2018-02 and 2018-01, no Meltdown patching for me yet) and there are no issues here. But I don’t use Office almost at all at this computer.

AskWoody PlusMarch 21, 2018 at 12:44 pm #177435OK, I need some W10 updating advice. I’m new to W10 and trying to learn the update ins and outs. New W10 1709 Home Dell set to metered connection…first monthly update cycle.
Yesterday, in Settings>updates I had three updates listed as “awaiting download”…the March 2018 Cumulative Update (KB4088776), MSRT, and the March Flash Update (KB4088785).
Following Woody’s instructions, I ran wushowhide and hid the March Cumulative update; all went as expected and I got the final “fixed” message indicating that it was hidden. At this point I assumed that I would then be able to just update MSRT and Flash while leaving KB4088776 safely hidden. NOT SO! As soon as I set metered connection to “off” this “hidden” update commenced to download and install! What did I do wrong???
Thankfully, this install went well, but I might not be so lucky next time. I was counting on wushowhide to allow me to defer next month’s 1803 without blocking other updates. If turning off metered connection opens the flood gates, then I have an all or nothing choice to make. What should I have done (or assumed) differently???
Thanks!
