Web page to .pdf – no .pdf printer driver

While on the road, I sometimes have to use a hotel’s business area computer to print airline boarding passes, hotel reservations, supershuttle reservations and the like, most of which usually show up in the PC’s browser as a web page. In addition to printing to paper, I would like to be able to save these documents to a .pdf file or .mht file and carry them on a thumb drive – just in case.

Generally, these web pages will not save as a web page. I am guessing because of the dynamic content

I have not been able to determine how to save/print/convert the web page to a .pdf file without installing a .pdf printer driver on the hotel’s PC, which, of course, is not such a great idea and in many cases, the hotel’s PC is locked down, making such installation impossible.

I have not been able to get a .pdf printer driver to install to a thumb drive.

Does anyone have any ideas how to save these types of web pages? Thanks.

Out of interest have you tried this site DieSse?

I would be cautious and also interested to know if you would be able to do conversions from secure websites (HTTPS) as most of that content is dynamic to a session. And if it could, privacy/security concerns.

I’ve been using this http://www.web2pdfconvert.com/default.aspx to convert web pages to .pdf. However, I don’t think that a converter service alone will solve your problem.

I suppose if you had a no-install word processor on a usb drive you could Alt Print Screen the web page as an image and paste it into a document.

I’ve no recommendations for which word processor though.

Print screen (or alt print screen ) will capture the screen (or active window) as an image.
To save an image there is no need for a word processor, you need image software. Every computer has Paint (in Accessories), but the collections of portable applications almost certainly include others.

So paste the captured image into a graphics program, and save as a GIF.

I was going to suggest this way of printing (it works for the iPad apparently).

A related alternative would be to take a photo of the screen with your digital camera.

Cute PDFis a pdf writer that saves files in pdf format for future use. It may work for what you need.

I have used it to save word documents in pdf formats and it may work with web pages as well.

John Juergens and DieSse were kind enough to suggest online .pdf conversion. Adobe.com also has an online .pdf conversion facility. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get the online conversion facilities to work with a secure site (url beginning with https). I can get a .pdf, but all it says is that my browser is not supported. I am guessing that a secure webpage won’t display properly unless it senses that it is in a browser with 128 bit cipher strength or other properties which make it secure.

Gfamily suggested a no-install word processor on a usb drive. I will try OpenOffice and see what I happens

Why not just copy to a word document?

OpenOffice is included and can make PDF files. I have attached a sample PDF that I made by PrtScrn of this page and paste to OpenOffice Writer. Then, save the Writer page as a PDF.
