So sad – when I was little I wished he was my dad. At least he was an adult I could trust. When something happened and my parents got upset, I always ran to the t.v. when Walt was on to get the real scoop.

Now I tweet, but it’s not the same as “Dad” reading the news to me……

I was also a great fan of Mr. Cronkite’s when I was a child growing up. I can honestly say that he was solely responsible for me becoming a news addict. You could always count on him and “Huntley & Brinkley” for good news reporting.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people that are now trying to re-write his legacy. Pity we always seem to want to deconstruct people after thye are dead.

That is quote possible – perhaps Argus can comment on that. But I’m certain it isn’t used in The Netherlands.

Hans, Here in Switzerland a few of the older (45+) people have heard of him, but he isn’t that well known. The youngsters ….

I grew up in Canada, saw the moon-landing, remember JFK’s assassination, with Mr. Cronkite doing the reporting so I am aware of the icon that he was in North America – but not so much over here. Hopefully Argus will arrive and give us his typically Swedish view …

It’s a shame he couldn’t have of hung on a little longer. I’ve just been watching “In the Shadow of the Moon” a documentary film on the Apollo astronauts (centring on the Apollo 11 crew). Mr Cronkite of course featured in it in the film clips.
