Hello:   thank you for   documenting the ongoing 24H2 saga.  Of great interest,  if not somewhat daunting.

I am very much a consumer,  altho’ I have upgraded the AMD processor etc on my desktop pc to make it compliant with W11 requirements.  I run W10 Pro (as with all previous Windows iterations,  and,  certainly have no pressing need to upgrade to W11.  (At the age of 90,  I am just adjusting to the use of my first smartphone – a family castoff)

You made some mention of the need to purchase the W11 software.  whereas I had assumed that this “natural” upgrade would be foc.  Please could you confirm,  or otherwise of course.  Thank you  Geoff Pickerell

If your computer has a legal license for Win10 installed. when the time comes to upgrade from Win10 to Win11 the digital license you have will activate on Win11. You do not need to buy a new license (software).

However, Susan has not recommended upgrading to Win11 24H2 yet, and that’s what you would get if you upgraded now. Also, there have been some reports of Win11 24H2 causing problems with some AMD processors. So it would be advised to hold off on 24H2 for a while longer.

Susan recommended buying a Pro license (or a PC with Pro license) providing your are on Home license.
