• W10 Home update fails – error 0xc1900223

My  laptop running W10 Home 1803 has tried to update to 1903 three times and to 1909 once with the same result: error 0xc1900223. Internet searches turn up only vague references saying that something didn’t go right.
Surely I’m not the only one seeing this. Surely Microsoft is looking for a solution. Surely somebody somewhere has already figured this out.

So what do I do now, besides sit tight and hope for success somewhere down the road?

Have you tried running the Windows Update troubleshooter?
If you have, and experience error 0xc1900223, you may have to wait it out. (Boo MS!)
But, something struck a chord from memory a while back..
Do you have drive encryption enabled on you existing installation?
If your using veracrypt encryption, you may need to un-encrypt the drive prior to the feature upgrade as some have reported issues on the interweb, with this being a workaround.

Reading about some of the 0xc 1900223 problems online, it may be a download problem. I like to use the ISO method because it separates the download process from the install process.

If you are willing to try to get to 1909. I am leaning towards the User-Agent method of getting the download. Here are 3 links:

Once you know the download completed, running the upgrade will no longer depend on the Internet. I have seen @PKCano suggest disconnecting the Internet; I also install the ISO without being connected to the Internet. You could also tell the install process, to skip getting the latest patches, then manually get the latest patches later and install.

After you download the ISO, right-click to mount. Use File Explorer and you will see a new drive on your PC. Open it and run the setup.exe file. The install process will start; the install process will show you it is making progress, as it shows the percentage.

      I got 2 PC’s from 1803 to 1909 because they were suppose to be 1809 ISO’s but I rolled back to 1803, before finding 2 1809 ISO’s.
