Has anyone ever had the volume control drop to the bottom on its own. Everytime I lift up the volume control to hear sound, it drops back down by itself. I have tried reinstalling the volume control and sound controls in ME, but to no avail. Any suggestions? Could it be sound card problem>?

Replies

Some applications change the volume settings. Have you installed any new media players or the like recently? If an application has been told to go to minimum volume, it may be resetting the main volume control periodically or at startup.

How do I know which program could be doing that? Do you know if it could possibly be the sound card software?

Any software that can make sound come out of your speakers! Things like Realplayer, WIndows Media player, any CD or MP3 player. They all have their own volume control. RealNetworks or Microsoft software shouldn’t change the master volume settings, but other similar software might. Don’t know about the soundcard – what type/make/model is it? Have you tried reinstalling or updating the drivers?
