Hi. I just bought a new laptop, installed Office 2007 Professional. Now, when installing Visual Studio 2005, the install stops: “Office 2003 SP1 REQUIRED”

I am trying to create a clean Vista/Office 2007 development environment. Is there any reason why VSTO is requiring Office 2003? I would prefer NOT to have to install Office 2003. Any ideas?

    THANKS!

VS 2005 predates Office 2007. Try installing them the other way around, Visual Studio first.

Wait a minute, VSTO? Are you installing the Visual Studio Tools for Microsot Office or Visual Studio? VSTO installs a shell of VS, but it is aimed at Office 2003/Access 2003, not 2007.

Yes, it’s all very confusing. Actually, it’s unbelievable how confusing it it.

I realize now that VSTO was built for Office 2003. I still get error messages related to Visual Studio 2005 and Vista (update required, but when I run the update, nothing happens.) I’m giving up until the new VSTO comes out for Office 2007. (“orcas”?) Thanks for your tips.
