Is there a way to set outlook to list the individuals in the distribution lists in the “to” field (rather than just list the distribution list name) so that you can preview the entire list of people within the distribution lists before sending?

What happens if you double-click the list name in the To: field?

It pulls up the distribution list that I can view, but sometimes I send e-mails on behalf of someone and he needs to check the list of recipients before it is sent. The easiest way to do this is to print the email before sending so he can check the hard copy list, which of course only lists the distribution name instead of the recipient names- unless you have a better idea for this process??

Instead of using a DL, maybe you could use a template or shortcut as discussed in this thread.
It would mean having to manually enter all the recipients once. But only once!

Thats an idea I havent thought of. I generally send them to different groups of people, but it would be easy enough to create a template that mirrors each distribution list and cut and paste as necessary.
I guess if that’s the best we can do, it will work.
            Thanks for your help

One way to do this is:
      1) open your address book
      2) in the main window, right click on the group
      3) choose Action|Send Mail

A new email message appears with the individual addresses in the To: box rather than the list name.

Thanks for the advice, however, when I right click on the group in the main window of the address book as you suggested, the only options I have are Properties (which brings up the window lisiting the names in the DL) and Delete. Any other ideas?

How do I edit names on the outlook template (permanently) once I create them?
