I remember hearing somewhere that you can select text vertically in Word and have done it in the past. Now I can’t remember how . Anyone out there know how to do this and if it works in Word 2000? Will it work in a text editor? Thanks…

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

That ALT key in MS-Word has some magic behind it. Is there any other neat tidbits to do with ALT key or any other key for that matter.
Thanks for the tip. I guess this is one example that refutes the theory that “You get what pay for”. Darn it there is no smilie for this one

Alt does a whole bunch of things. You can hold the Alt key down & move or drag off toolbar buttons (Alt+Ctrl to copy them). Alt puts the focus on the menus or toolbars along with a number or letter (e.g. Alt,F opens the File menu)…just look for the underlined letter.

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 27, 2002 at 9:56 pm #573173I have Word 2000 and used the key combination of Alt + click and drag to select vertical blocks of text. That was until I installed Atomica the online dictionary. This programme takes over the Alt key to look up words automatically so it cannot be used for selecting vertical blocks of text. This programme (Atomica) also disables the Alt key in Publisher to rotate selected objects.
