I think I have successfully updated 5 PCs to 21H1 but on one desktop PC under Windows specifications, version is 21H1 (OS Build: 19043.985). However under Windows Update History is 20H2.

Any suggestions how to “fix” this?

Can you provide a screen shot? Typically in update history the section on feature install has a > and you click on that > to expand the detail.  If system/about says you are 21H1, then that’s what you are.

The top image (black background) is from my main PC where all is consistent. The bottom image (white background) is from the problem PC where the versions are inconsistent.

      Thanks & regards,

P.S. There is a problem posting through my VPN service (IP address=45.248.78.44. But this address changes from day to day as the VPN service finds the best performing site in Australia). I have to switch off the VPN to successfully post.

My Windows 10 display the same 20H2/21H1 versions as yours.
History doesn’t display the latest May 20H2 and 21H1 updates (uninstall does).

I assume the reason is I was using WUmgr to check for and install these updates and not Windows Update.

I agree, using WUMgr seems to cause the 21H1 Feature update to <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>not</span> appear in the Feature Updates list under Update history. However 21H1 was installed. So my question is, should it appear there? Is this a bug? Or is this correct behaviour?

WUMgr uses Windows Updates to do the work so updates should show up wherever MS decides.
A feature update may not be classified as an update for history.

Either 21H1 is an Windows update or it is not. It should not matter how you update your PC to 21H1. As I have noted previously, I have a PC where 21H1 is listed in the Updated history & another where it is has been updated to 21H1 & it is not listed in the Update history.

I am not losing any sleep over this but it would be nice to receive some reassurance from Microsoft that this inconsistent behaviour does not affect anything else.

You can fine the 21H1 update on the Uninstall Updates page.

Clearly enough of us are seeing this. Let me see if I can get some info from Microsoft to confirm what we’re seeing.

As I recall from past discussions, the user history information is just a pull from certain information on the computer and can be wrong. For example clearing the software distribution folder will remove this history information.

I’m having the same issue–21H1 was installed via the TargetReleaseVersion key method on a Home edition, previously 20H2.  Only the 20H2 update shows in “View Update History”, but 21H1 shows in winver.  “About” shows the correct 21H1 version, 19043.985 OS build, and 120.2212.2020.0 experience pack,  the Installed On line shows “10/‎17/‎2020” (when I had v2004).

Any news on this from Microsoft, Susan?

This also pertains to the Registry entry: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\PaintDesktopVersion set to “1”.  That has been inaccurate for many months/updates, now.
