• VBA help library (Access 97 SR2)

Our company is moving to XP pro and a developer just got the new image which is Office 2000 but with Access 97.
It will be some time prior to converting all Access databases to 2000 or newer.

Apparently the Windows 95 with Office 97 had Visual Basic addin for Access which contained either help or libraries but the client does not know how he obtained these.

Is there a way to provide these files using a CD setup with Add Remove or a download?

Sorry to not know the exact VBA terms since I understand help files as being different from “libraries”.

    Any pointers would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jester

XP, 2000, 97, 95 – this is confusing. What exactly do you want for whom? Does your developer need some files, or do you need them? And are they for use in Access XP, 2000 or 97? In all cases, the person installing things would need to have the official Office CD’s for the appropriate version.

        Operating system is XP pro.
Office is a hybrid 2000 with Access 97.
Client needs VBA libraries and help files.
I am asking how to provide such files. Does this sound like something that is found on the install CD or something which can be downloaded? Our scripting department has not chosen to make available.

Previously the OS was Win 95B with Office 97 and somehow the VBA files were on the PC but client does not know how he got them.

        Thank you.

OK, that is a bit clearer.

All standard help files and libraries can be found on the installation CDs, but not everything is installed by default.

Have the CD with Access 97 ready.
In Windows XP, select Start/Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs.
In the list of installed programs, select Microsoft Access 97 (or perhaps it says Microsoft Office 97 Professional)
          Click Edit.
When Office setup starts, select the first option (Add/Remove Items)
Expand Microsoft Access, then select each item in turn and select Run all items from computer (or something similar), in particular the VBA help files.
          Click Update.

There are some auxiliary files that have to be installed separately.
Open the Office or Access 97 CD in Windows Explorer, and open the ValuPack folder. There is a help file in there that explains what ValuPack contains and how to install the parts you want.

It is possible that the Windows 95/Office 97 installation also contained downloaded add-ins. You’d have to find out what they are.
