• VBA editor lost Courier New font?

    Here’s a really strange one.

I’m using the VBA editor in Word 2000 SR-1.
I was flipping through the tabs in Tools->Options.
After I closed, I can no longer get the nice Courier New font to display in the Editor Format, Font box.
Consequently, I have to use another font.

I’ve restarted the editor, Windows, and have also
done a Detect & Repair in Word, but still no help.
Also spent a couple hours searching Microsoft’s kb, but nothing turned up.

Courier New will not display in the font list of the VBA editor. Even the “regular” fonts do not display. Only the italics, and bold versions (such as courier new italic, arial italic-but not arial regular, times new roman italic-but not times new roman, etc.)

These fonts really strain the eyes.

Anyone know what’s going on? Or how to bring Courier New back?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

This problem sounds quite similar to a Word IDE toolbar glitch seen periodically in Word 97. The only fix we have found (its gone around in various threads over the years) is to delete two reg keys that contain toolbar and configuration settings for Word. Deleting these keys sets everything back to Word defaults in the IDE (and in Word too). Exit Word first.

Here they are for Office 97:

      HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice8.0WordData, Settings

      HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice8.0WordData,
      Toolbars
