Are we stuck with losing the missing Woody’s Secrets Lounge VBA postings?

I appreciate that the attachments previously posted in the Secrets Lounge no longer comply with current security restrictions here, but even without those attachments it would still be useful to be able to refer to (and see) those earlier postings.

Same applies to all the other missing Secrets Lounge postings.

At this point, we’ve retrieved all of the posts that were sent to use by Informa/Penton.

I realize there are large swathes of missing posts. You may be able to find some in the Wayback machine. Others may be stored by individuals.

If you come across an individual missing post, I’d be happy to help you get it posted on AskWoody. If you can identify a series of posts — e.g., on the Internet Archive — I’d be happy to help put together a team to move them over here.

We just finished doing something like that, restoring images to pre-2017 Windows Secrets Newsletters, based on copies from various sources. I still have hope that we’ll be able to fill in the gaps with the 2017 to 2018 newsletters.

My guess is that Penton sent us a backup that was made before the “great crash” — where the Windows Secrets site went down for four or six months. There’s no way to automatically retrieve anything that’s missing. But there are lots of people interested in helping to bring across whatever can be salvaged.
