I see there is already a new version of windows 20h2.

I have not installed V2004 yet because MS never updated my PC. I have had the attached notification for 2 or 3 months (says V2004 is on its way). The only updates I get are for V1909.

I realize V1909 will end in May of 2021 so I am good for now.

Will MS ever download V2004 or  V20h2 on to my PC ? Do I need to do something to update besides “check for updates” ?

MS still has blocks on some hardware, for example. If your PC fits that case, MS will not offer you v2004 or v20H2 (they both have the same core, same updates) through Windows Update until the conflict is solved.

Windows 10 Release Information contains SOME of the known and resolved issues (the ones MS has recognized) associated with each version of Win10. Look through the issues for your current version and any later versions and see if your PC falls into any of the categories.

It’s a good idea to wait until MS offers you the next version in order to avoid problems.

I was ready for 2004 but just Hid via wushowhide — KB4023057 — that just popped-up yesterday in Settings/Updates.

I presume a Conexant HD Audio DLL I have IS the DELAY for No 2004 offered (PKC link shows Investigating Conexant) BUT is KB4023057 —  as of now — considered an Aid to getting 2004 I should Allow — or an additional chance for Uh-Oh’s?

Never a Feature Upgrade issue since 1803 in early 2019.

      W10 Pro 22H2 / Hm-Stdnt Ofce '16 C2R / Macrium Pd vX / GP=2 + FtrU=Semi-Annual + Feature Defer = 1 + QU = 0

KB4023057 resets your settings that MS doesn’t like.
But it doesn’t fix the hardware conflicts.
That has to be in updated drivers or in the OS changes.

what kind of HP Envy computer are you using, CraigS26?
run either MSInfo32.exe from the Run dialog box or use Speccy to gather the model number of your HP computer.

check the HP support site for any new Conexant audio drivers as Synaptics (the maker of Conexant audio devices) may have given HP & other manufacturers several updated audio drivers that are compatible with 2004/20H2.

you need to update your Conexant audio drivers first (either from HP support or let windows update issue an updated Conexant driver) before trying to upgrade to v2004.

I do have Conexant Audio Driver so I assume that is the problem. I checked my PC Makers drivers for my PC. The Conexant Audio Driver is from 11/20/17. They obviously have not updated it since then. (before the advent of V2004).

I guess I am at “wait and see” for now.

Oh how I miss W7. Just had to restart my PC after update. No DEFCON to worry about,

        No DEFCON to worry about,

Update stability has always been an issue, W7 thru 10.
The DEFCON system is one of the reasons I joined this site.

        cheers, Paul
