I have run into an issue with Rufus as it does not present me with the expanded… option after clicking START. This is the end of the log file. What is the bold text telling me? If I proceed it creates the USB but without the extension.

What version of Rufus are you using? Is the problem with just that version, or between Rufus and Win11 24H2?

      Newest Rufus is v4.6 (2024-10-21)
      https://rufus.ie/en/#

      Version 4.6 (2024.10.21)…
Improve revoked UEFI bootloaders check to support Linux SBAT, Windows SVN and cert DBX *
      ../

      * My bolding for emphasis relative to your issue..

Windows - commercial by definition and now function...

it creates the USB but without the extension

      Which extension?
Rufus should take an ISO file and write files to the USB stick/disk. There will be no sign of the ISO on the USB.

To see what the USB will contain, double click on the W11 ISO and it will open in Explorer.

      cheers, Paul

[0x00000079] The semaphore timeout period has expired.

This means Windows was unable to write data to the USB stick within the set timeout period and indicates some sort of hardware problem with either the USB stick or USB port.

Suggest you format the USB stick from scratch, run chkdsk /scan on it to verify it’s good, and then try Rufus again.

otherwise try a different USB stick with Rufus

Is the USB NTFS formatted ?

What difference does that make? Rufus reformats it anyway.

        cheers, Paul
