Does anyone have experience of using commercial FrontPage templates such as marketed by PixelMill http://www.pixelmill.com/(pgocn6jwn77h40f5dvnt3eft)/%5B/url%5D and FrontPage Templates.com http://www.frontpagetemplates.com/Default.asp%5B/url%5D

I would be most interested in knowing of any problems or pitfalls.

I don’t have any experience with them, but I wonder whether they can give you “referrals” to sites that were published using those templates?

        Thank you for your reply.

I already had asked for referrals but the answer was that as the marketing is done on-line the URL of a site using a template is unknown to the seller.

      Hi Malcolm,

I haven’t used those particular templates but I have used a few others. While they are a bit restrictive if you try to follow the template exactly, there are often some pretty decent design, graphics and layout ideas in these templates. When I have used a purchased template, I have modified it to fit the particular site I’m working on and the results have been fine. If you can find something that appeals to you and you’re not opposed to making a few modifications, I think that many of these are great starting points.

Thank you for the positive response. As I have been using FrontPage since MS acquired it (1997?) I think I am able to cope with making some changes.

My other concern is that I am reading in the FrontPage Client Newsgroup where I loiter from time to time that no further development of FrontPage is being done and that the FrontPage Server Extensions are being phased out. Therefore it would seem prudent to avoid using a FrontPage only template.
